Claim Type
Contact Damage at Mooring

Claim Amount
£100,000

Our client’s vessel was moored at a stand-by berth designated by a port authority on the West coast of the UK. The vessel unexpectedly touched bottom during a falling tide, resulting in her hull being damaged by uncharted debris on the sea bed. We, therefore, pursued an unsafe berth claim against the Harbour Master and port concerned and were eventually able to settle the claim with the port’s liability insurers in the amount of £65,000

Overboard Loss

Claim Type
Loss overboard of underwater research equipment

Claim Amount
$375,000 USD

During deep-sea underwater research work, a part of the ROV hauling gear failed, resulting in the loss of camera equipment and several thousand metres of optical cable overboard. We subsequently determined that there was a design fault in the gear, which we then pinpointed to a recent service by an engineering sub-contractor. We submitted the claim to this engineering company and were ultimately successful in settling the claim, in full, with their E&OE insurers.
