Case Study
Fire damage whilst moored
Instruction from
Opponent Party
3rd Party Yacht Insurer
Claim Type
Fire/CTL
Claim Amount
€90,000
Our client’s yacht was moored (unmanned) during the off-season at a marina in Croatia when a fire emanating from another yacht moored nearby spread to, and ultimately destroyed, our client’s yacht. We subsequently determined that the owners of the 3rd party yacht had undertaken negligent repairs onboard, which had resulted in an electrical fire. We, therefore, pursued these owners and their H&M insurers and ultimately achieved a recovery of €50,000.
